HOW TO STAY YOUNG
INCREASE YOUR HEALTHSPAN:
I have been motivated to make changes in my lifestyle, to increase my healthspan. My own innate wisdom has rejected many ideas that don’t appeal to me. However, by reestablishing a connection with my healthier self, I have enthusiastically incorporated many ideas into my lifestyle, which do appeal to me. My hope is, as you read my stories, interviews and research, that you too will pick and choose your own personalized journey. There are many roads that lead to a longer healthier life. It will be up to you to choose your own route and decide on the speed at which you travel. Although the routes may differ, the goal for all is the same, to arrive at a destination with a healthy healthspan. Remember all journeys begin with a first step.

AM I GETTING YOUNGER?
For most of my life I led a healthy lifestyle. However, when I reached 80, my physical capabilities started to diminish and I began feeling sorry for myself. Luckily for me, I had an intervention from a very good friend Bill, who motivated me to make additional healthy lifestyle changes. As a result of this intervention, Bill and I went on a bike journey in the United States and in 10 foreign countries, where we conducted some 600 hundred random interviews about longevity called the Tour de Longevity. This adventure serves as an example that pre-conceived negative stereotypes about aging can be overcome and that seniors can always be young enough to go on an adventure and participate in new and creative experiences. The knowledge gained from the Tour de Longevity and the interviews and research that followed, inspired me to make additional healthy lifestyle changes in my life. As a result of these changes, I have lost weight and 3 inches from my waist and my resting heart rate has gone from the high 70’s BPM to the mid-50s. In a recent annual physical, my metrics have shown a remarkable improvement. Am I getting younger? Maybe not, but I am feeling younger. Thus, the title of my book. How to Stay Young. I have learned a variety of strategies, besides diet and exercise, which I have interwoven into my daily lifestyle to increase my healthspan. This entire process has motivated me with the passion to share what I have learned and to hopefully inspire those of you that may need to make healthy lifestyle changes in order to increase your healthspan
